Digital transformation journey: Orientation to develop digital signatures in Vietnam

The Ministry of Information and Communications has just celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the National Electronic Certificate Center (NEAC) and 17 years of providing digital signature certification services in Vietnam. This event marks an important step in the digital journey, especially the nationwide dissemination of digital signatures.

Since the Prime Minister decided to establish the Center on the basis of reorganizing the National Digital Signature Certification Center, NEAC has gradually overcome many challenges and transformed itself strongly. From building a national ROOT-CA system to actively propagating and changing the perception of businesses on digital signatures, the Center has built a solid digital signature foundation and changed the perception of enterprises on the use of electronic signatures. This is an integral part of the digital transformation journey, making an essential contribution to the development of the digital economy and digital society in Vietnam.

Currently, the market has 25 public CAs; 100% of domestic enterprises and organizations have used digital signatures, with more than 11.5 million issued digital certificates, up sharply from 307,000 in 2014. NEAC has also scaled up, from a small team to a group of 52 people who working to disseminate digital signatures in the community at present.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said at the Celebration:"Targeting to 2025, 100% of adults in Vietnam having digital signatures are completely feasible".

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the ambitious goal: Targeting to 2025, 100% of Vietnamese adults will have digital signatures. To achieve this, the Ministry is committed to perfecting the national e-certification infrastructure, along with the standardization of the legal system and standards. This goal is not only feasible but also a driving force for the development of the national digital infrastructure, to create a solid foundation for the digital economy and digital society.
